Exclusive: Nokia applies for mobile transactions tech logo trademark
Nokia has submitted an application to trademark the logo (pictured here) with the Trademarks and Design Registration Office of the European Union for its new mobile technology that would enable NFC-like mobile payment and data transfer actions.
While we are not sure whether this logo will be used for Nokia’s Mobile Money initiative it announced earlier this year, the application sums it up like this:
Software for mobile telephones that allows users to pair and connect easily with other devices to share information and data between two devices, to get information or start an application by touching the device to a designated area, and to use their device to pay for services or transit tickets; mobile telephones; accessories and replacement parts for mobile telephones.
It sounds more like NFC to us, though you never know what Nokia might announce next year as it builds itself up as a services-company than merely the world’s largest handset vendor.
