How big is too big? HTC HD2 has a 4.3 inch display!
HTC joined the Windows Mobile 6.5 launch party with its HD2 – the successor to the Touch HD, which in our books was the first true multi-media phone on Windows Mobile.
The HD2 carries the tradition forward and boasts a huge 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen. Yup, it beats Toshiba TG01’s 4.1 inches and emerges as the phone with biggest touchscreen. But here we think that HTC is pushing its luck a bit too far as a device that big is more of an Internet tablet than a phone. I won’t be pretty comfortable carrying such a big device in my pocket.
For those of you who don’t mind its expansive footprint, there is a Qualcomm SnapDragon processor under the hood along with a 5.0 MP camera (WHAT? No 8.0 MP shooter??) and all the usual works. The best thing in the entire package should be the Sense UI, which has been ported from Android to Microsoft-land. Based on my experience with the HTC Hero, the UI should be fun with such a huge display and a powerful 1 GHz processor to play with. So much for Windows Mobile 6.5’s new homescreen and start menu.
