Tata Teleservices has apparently initiated talks with Apple for introducing the latter’s product on its network. And if what we believe that talks are about, we could be seeing a completely new Apple handheld product coming on Tata’s CDMA network.

A source familiar with the proceedings agreed that the two companies have initiated talks and it is not about the iPhone! “Two carriers are already offering the product (iPhone) in India,” the source said. 

We believe that Tata is talking to Apple to introduce Apple’s upcoming Internet tablet device, which is expected to be announced soon. It all makes perfect sense as the Internet tablet is speculated to be launched with Verizon, a CDMA carrier in the US. It remains to be seen whether Apple will introduce a GSM version as CDMA networks are not present in Europe, which would be a big market for an Internet tablet device.
