HTC outs Hero before announcement
After the Magic launch yesterday, HTC is holding a press conference in London today to announce something big. Guess what, they have announced the new device on their website even before the press conference could begin.
HTC has already uploaded the product page for Hero, the handset manufacturer’s third Android phone. From what we can grasp from the bits of information on these pages, the Hero would be the most customised Android phone to date. Okay, there ain’t many Android phones out there but the Hero has a heavily tweakable UI. Mind you, there is no mention of Google, so we expect it to be sans Android Market and other Google goodies.
HTC is touting something called scenes, which in our opinion is something like Palm’s card deck on the webOS. It would make multi-tasking easier and bring tonnes of information on the home screen. Taking more inspiration from webOS, HTC is also talking about consolidating your contacts, emails, etc into a single place. So you’d be able to opebn a particular contact, see all his details, history of interactions — IM, text, calls and emails — and so on. And yeah, they are talking about a browser that supports Flash!! About time, we say.
