LG announces app store for its WinMo devices
LG has announced its version of an application store (unwittingly called Application store) at CommunicAsia today. The store will be available for LG’s range of Windows Mobile devices, starting with the GM730, which was also announced at the show.
The application Store will be available from July 14 in Singapore and Australia, the two countries where the GM730 will be launched first. The store will be introduced in other countries according to the availability to the device in each country. LG tells us that the store will also work on the KS20 – the Windows Mobile version of the Prada phone.
Unlike other application stores, LG will share 80 percent of the revenues with developers, when the norm is 70 percent. It would be interesting to see how LG’s application store fares with Microsoft’s Marketplace that will go live with Windows Mobile 6.5.
