Rumors on the blogosphere indicate that Sony Ericsson is all set to announce the successor to the XPERIA X1 during CommunicAsia on June 17 in Singapore. The Swedish handset vendor is said to be organising a press event on June 17 in Singapore (1630 hours local time).

While we have no inkling of any such press conference or even the existence of the so-called XPERIA X2, images of the rumored device have been online for a couple of weeks, now. From the picture, we can make out that Sony Ericsson has reworked on the keypad and has also designed a more spacious, uncluttered direction pad.

Of course, all this is not confirmed yet, but something inside of us wants it to be true.
