Samsung launches low cost solar phone in India
Like we reported yesterday, Samsung has launched an extremely affordable solar phone in India. The Solar Guru E1107 has a solar charging panel on its back and Samsung claims that keeping it under sunlight for an hour can provide up to five to ten minutes of talktime.
But unlike the other solar phone that Samsung announced at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year, this one is a mass market phone priced at Rs 2,799. We expect the device to eventually be available in the vicinity of Rs 2,500 (USD 50)!
The Solar Guru E1107 has FM radio, mobile tracker and a flash light, features that are quite popular in rural markets that it targets.
The phone will be launched in other markets in Europe, Latin America and South Asia later this month.
