We have been hearing rumours about Apple working away on a “larger iPod touch” for a while but now it seems that the company is actually burning the midnight oil on an Internet tablet. Of course, this is only based on hearsay but the details that are coming out refer to a seven inch screen (evidently most people were rooting for a six inch one but were overruled by the Powers That Be), a variation of the iPhone OS, a special pen accessory for scribbling notes and most interesting of all, twelve hours of battery life on Wi-Fi. The price we hear is going to be in the vicinity of USD 400, putting the device closer to the iPod touch and well clear of the iPhone and Macbook territory. A name for the device has not been finalised but evidently iPod Reader has been rejected as the company does not want it to be seen as something in the Kindle category. We will know for sure in December!
