Metal Gear Solid full version sneaks into App Store

The Snake has well and truly landed on the App Store. Konami has announced the launch of the full version of Metal Gear Solid Touch for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Part of the cult stealth-based Metal Gear Solid series that has sold millions of copies on the PlsyStation, the game is set in the expansive world of Metal Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Developed by Kojima Productions and designed specifically for the iPhone and iPod touch, the game has a fairly long feel to it, being spread over five chapters over a span of 20 stages, featuring villains attempting to stop smooth (and secret) operator Snake from foiling their nefarious plans. Once all 20 stages have been cleared, a Survival Mode is unlocked, which lets players skip the story images and play stages consecutively without replenishing their life gauge. Cool, we say!
As an added bonus, players will have access to over 30 original wallpapers that are available from Drebin’s Shop. The wallpapers feature a variety of artwork that include unreleased illustrations by Metal Gear Solid’s character designer, Yoji Shinkawa, as well as images that were designed using Metal Gear Solid as a motif.
Players who have already installed the initial release of the game can update to the complete version for free. For those who have yet to purchase the game, the complete version is available for USD 7.99 from the Apple App Store on iPhone and iPod touch. We are betting it will be well worth it, but if you would rather have a try before unburdening your wallet, you can wait for the free lite version of the game that will be released soon.Â
