Android OS 1.5 to bring Live Folders concept
The folks at Google’s Android team are working extra hard to get some cool, new features into the open mobile operating system. The latest addition to the mix is a concept called Live Folders, which allows users to view content without opening an application!
Android OS 1.5 aka Cupcake will allow users to create Live Folders on the homescreen where users can choose between options like RSS feeds, e-mails, contacts, playlists and so on… For instance, the RSS feeds Live Folder will enable a user to see the latest feeds without opening the browser and clicking a link.
Well that’s what a widget would do, right? So what’s so great about it? Well, it will keep showing you the latest feeds as they come, without having to refresh the lists!
But the concept is likely to have a greater impact when developers embrace it into their apps and see how they can add more value/excitement into them. Like all things Google, even the monst insignificant add-ons have the potential to suddenly become real big.
So keep watching this space and watch out for Live Folder on your HTC G1/Magic.
