Microsoft finally gets a Facebook app, outlines plans for Marketplace
Microsoft seems to have finally woken up to the concept of social networking and has announced a Facebook app for its Windows Mobile devices. Though it did not provide any details about the app, but it should be on display at CTIA Wireless which kicks off in a few hours from now.
The BIg M has also outlined its plans for Marketplace — the phone-based online application store. It has clarified that developers won’t be charged for updating their applications and consumers can get a refund for applications downloaded if they return it within 24 hours of downloading. Microsoft is also working with carriers to enable consumers to pay for their downloads with their cellphone bill, though in most markets payment will be made via credit card.
Microsoft has also announced a slew of developers who will support Marketplace with their applications. They include AccuWeather.com., The Associated Press, CNBC, Developer One Mobile Software, EA Mobile, Facebook, Gameloft, Glu Mobile, Handmark, Ilium Software Inc., Jeyo Inc., Kinoma, LiteScape, Magmic Games, Melodis Corp., MySpace, Namco Networks, Netflix, Pandora, PhatWare Corp., Resco s.r.o., ShoZu Inc., Sling Media Inc., SBSH Mobile Software, Spb Software, Web Information Solutions Inc. and Zagat Survey.
