Nokia’s Ovi Store launch plans leaked
At the Forum Nokia Code Camp in Jakarta on March 11, the folks from Forum Nokia shared with attendees more than they had bargained for — detailed launch plans for the Ovi Store. According to a presentation made by one Forum Nokia rep, Nokia will launch its application store along with carriers in the UK, Italy, Singapore, Germany, Australia, Spain, the USA, Russia and Ireland. In these countries the price of applications bought from the store will be added to the user’s cellphone subscription bill, which means that Nokia will have some sort of revenue sharing model with partner carriers. This could also mean that in these countries, Nokia’s Ovi Store might be available only on devices running on those partner carrier’s network. The rest of the world will pay for their apps by making online payments using their credit cards.
