• Google Sync: MS-Google Love Child?

Imagine George W. Bush buying chem warheads from the late Saddam Hussein? Well, some of the Google faithful might view the company’s view to take a patent license for Microsoft’s Exchange ActiveSync in the same light. But put aside the angst to one side and the stark fact is that Google has managed to come out with a smooth (and so far, free) implementation of Exchange ActiveSync for its recently announced Google Sync app that allows users to sync the contacts and calendars on their devices with those on Google’s services.

So, is this the beginning of a long love affair between the OS giant and the company synonymous with search? We rather think not. If anything, it just shows that Google is unlikely to have any qualms about tying up with anyone as long as it feels it can help it deliver a decent service to its users. Now, we are waiting to see who it ties up with to synchronise MS Office files and music on handsets. No, we are not betting that it won’t try to work some deal with a fruity company in Cupertino either.
