Toshiba preparing 1 Ghz touch heavyweight for MWC
On paper, this has got to be the mother of all touchscreen devices we have seen so far. The folks at Engadget report that Toshiba plans to unveil the TG01 at the forthcoming Mobile World Congress. Don’t get taken in by the alphanumeric name. It comes on a 9.9 mm sleek-looking device that features a 4.1 inch touchscreen display as well as goodies like GPS, WiFi, HSDPA and a microSD slot. Best of all, it is driven by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, which is comfortably faster than anything we have seen in mobile territory.
Mind you, we reckon the TG01 is gonna need that processor as lurking below that delectable hood is Windows Mobile 6.1! It’s hardly surprising that Toshiba is working on a custom 3D GUI to ensure that the less discerning users do not find this out. If they can replicate what HTC and Sony Ericsson have done, we reckon this might be one of the devices to look out for in Barca in about a fortnight’s time!
