Neither Android nor the Sony Ericsson XPERIA have seen the light of the day (officially) yet. But that has not stopped the rumour market from speculating that work is underway on an Android version of the XPERIA. A little birdie has told us that work on an Android-laden XPERIA has actually been underway for the past two months. Well, here’s yet another platform being adopted by Sony Ericsson for its smartphones, after Symbian UIQ and Windows Mobile.

What we can say at the moment is Sony Ericsson is toying with an Android-driven device in its high-end XPERIA portfolio but what we can’t commit is the timing of the announcement. Since it has been just two months since the development of the product, we can safely assume an announcement some time next year only.
