Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM leaked, gets hacked and shared on torrents
Microsoft might not have officially released the new version of its Windows Mobile OS – Windows Mobile 6.1 – the fact remains that we have seen far too many devices running the OS to doubt its existence. What’s more, we now hear that the ROM for the new version has been leaked and is being hacked at various forums dedicated to Windows Mobile. A version of the hacked OS for the HTC Excalibur has even found its way into popular torrent sites.
A source had earlier tipped us off that Microsoft will make Windows Mobile 6.1 official during CTIA 2008, which takes off in Las Vegas on April 1. The new OS is said to bring some minor additions to the current Windows Mobile 6.0. The most notable of these include the ability to zoom pages and viewing page mini maps on Mobile Internet Explorer, threaded text messages and a task manager application.
