Sony Ericsson lowers sales outlook for first quarter
Sony Ericsson today announced that the market growth in the mid and high-end segment is slowing down, which would impact the brand’s sales and profit projection for the first quarter of 2008. The Swedish company now expects to sell approximately 22 million handsets with an average selling price of Euro 120.Â
“As discussed during our fourth quarter 2007 Media and Analyst Call, the market is proving to be challenging. This has been more pronounced in the mid-to-high end replacement sector of the market in Europe, where Sony Ericsson has stronger than average market share,†said Dick Komiyama, President of Sony Ericsson in a press release issued by the company.
Komiyama further mentioned that recent product announcements and the strategy to introduce Windows Mobile platform are expected to have positive effect from the second half of 2008. Sony Ericsson has already announced 15 new products so far and is expected to introduce a few more products before the beginning of the second half of 2008.
